Converse Unveils Chuck Taylor II With Help From Nike

Converse, today unveiled a dashing, pricier version of the roughly century-old sneakers. The substantial upgrade in the Chuck II, is the technology imported for the first time from big sister Nike. Lunarlon, a lightweight foam used by Nike in their running and basketball shoes, will now be found in Chuck’s rubber sole. The Nike Lunarlon provides more cushioning and arch support.

Also, there is a padded non-slip tongue, for 360 comfort around the ankle and instep. Micro-suede lining, perforated for maximized comfort, premium canvas, for high-quality touch and texture. Regarding the design details, the eyelets are embossed and molded for added value with a premium touch. The ankle patch is embroidered to add depth and dimension and in my opinion it gives it a superior finish. When you put the Chuck on, you will feel the tongue has been stabilized with gore webbing for a more secure and locked in fit around the foot.

Jim Calhoun, chief executive of Converse spoke today at our secret location at the Massport and said, “we listened and understand what our customers like.” The entire design team today shared the commitment to this new sneaker as each spoke, “we updated the Chuck because we love what you do, and we wanted to let you do it bigger, badder and bolder than ever before. The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II is built for comfort. They fit and fell amazing, but we stayed true to the look of a Chuck Taylor.”

I can’t wait to test my pair out in New York City tomorrow.

Thank you
